History

Youth football has long been a part of the fabric of the Mahomet-Seymour community. Organized youth football in the area dates to the mid to late 1980s. Between 2002-2016, MSYF was a member of the Central Illinois Youth Football League (CIYFL). In 2017, Board Members voted to leave the CIYFL in favor of playing in the Bloomington-Normal Youth Football League (BNYFL) playing in that league through the 2021 season.

Currently, MSYF is a member of the Junior Mid-State Football Conference. Members include Mattoon, Charleston, Effingham, Mt. Zion and Taylorville.

Our organization makes it possible for youth in the Mahomet-Seymour area to participate in tackle football from grades 5th-8th grades. Our board members, coaches, and parents strive to make champions of our youth not only on the field but off it as well.

MSYF home practice site is 13 Acres Park. Games are played on Frank Dutton Field at Mahomet-Seymour High School, or on the adjacent practice field.

Registration takes place yearly in spring. Our four teams are limited to 40 members per team. Practice begins the third week of July. Games run from August through the end of September.
